Sardinia, Italy
June 2, 2007

Here we are in Sardinia with Laura, Cri and little Daniel. He is a sweet baby and has had his first bus trip to a small beach town and his first train ride to the big city of Cagliari. He seems to like travelling (wonder where he gets that from??)

Dave and I are planning to rent a motor home and travel around the island of Sardini for a week. This way we will see more of the island and find out if we like this RVing when we return to Europe in the future.

Cri has a little powerboat and Dave is helping him paint it. We can take it out snorkling when the weather gets a little warmer.

Ciao for now!

Sardinia, Italy
July 15,2007

Ciao tutti, Hi Everyone,
We Love Italy. Have had many opportunities to travel the island of Sardinia with the kids. Also have been taking off on our own.

Dave and I just returned from a fantastic trip to the Bay of Naples.   We took a 16hr. ferry from Sardinia to Naples and from there took a train one hour to Sorrento.  It is a beautiful port. The town is full of bar/restaurants and souvenir shops and museums with local artists paintings displayed. The town is on a cliff 50 meters high and one has to hike down many, many steps to reach the water. From there we took a fast ferry to the Isle of Capri, this is a lovely island and was once a Greek colony. From the main marina, Marina Grande, we took a cable car to the city of Capri from the top of the mountain. We had beautiful panoramic vistas of the coastline and could see Sorrento, Napoli and Mt. Vesuvius. We basically traveled the entire island by bus, hiking trails and a spectacular view from a chairlift to Anna Capri.  Dave swam in the sea the entry from the rocky cliff.

The following days we went to Pompeii, and explored the excavated ruins of a large and important Roman outpost. It was completely buried by volcanic ash after its citizens all perished instantly from a cloud of poisonsous gas from the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD.  Later that day we hiked to the top of the volcano.  The next day we went to the ruins of Herculaneum, also a
catastrope of the same eruption. Buried under 16 meters of ash and lava.

We used Sorrento as our base and took a train everyday 45 min. to see these spectatular ruins.
We also spent 3 days on the Amalfi coast. We stayed in a lovely bed and breakfast, Giordini di Limone in Ravello, a small town on the cliffs of the Amalfi coast.  We had a terrace and an amazing view of the sea.  We were so high that when it rained one day, the clouds were at our window level.  There is a saying that Ravello is closer to the sky than the sea.

All and all it was a lovely week and we would love to return again someday.

Prague, Czechoslovakia
Aug. 7, 2007

We have just returned from 7 days in Prague. Prague ranks as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is famous for its many old castles, ancient clock towers, gothic and baroque style churches, 15th century stone bridges, and architectually ornate buildings. We walked the entire old city and never tired of viewing this centuries old capitol of the Bohemian Kings. We are including a few photos so you can appreciate just how wonderful Prague is.

We are back in Sardinia and plan to make a trip to Spain in the near future. In the meantime, Daniel keeps growing!
