Rose and I talked about coming down for a dive. The lobster may
be all the motivation needed.
One day it will be a reality we hope.

Dave and Fran,
Just read, all of it, your log. WOW!!! As Chris often says, "I
love living vicariously", and you offer a great adventure.
We, in Portland, are doing well. The summer is coming to a close
and the children (grandchildren) soon back to school -- and with
that ends the carefree, impromtu days. I lack the spirit for itineraries.
But, as I get older (much), the days pass quickly.
Jill is having a baby girl in December and that is wonderful.
We miss our Chloe so much. This baby will be my eighth grandchild
-- now three boys and four girls; ages 11 - 8 mos. All live about
a mile away and are a constant joy.
The photos of your journeys are fantastic. What a great web-site.
You both are young and gorgeous! Envious!
I hope to see youagain one of these days...
Love you.

Hi, Melinda just put up the picture of the lobster; man,it makes
my mouth water. Maybe I can fit some pontoons on my coach and
run down there for dinner? Anyways, sounds as if you guys are
having a whale of a time. We are very busy with weddings having
just had Jacob/Julie and upcoming Colby/Kathie. Jim is catering
with his crepe machine and Alyssa is living here w/us as are Jim
and Carolyn. We also have a dog (Lyss) and a cat (Carolyn), so
we have a full house. I'm busy trying to do all the work and maintenance
on my GMC motor coach, so all in all we're busy. Clo doing pretty
well, but the pains and aches of old age are with us most of the
time. I'm glad I don't have to do too much, unless I want too.
Best & love to ya'll

Hi Fran and Dave,
Daryl Jones and I met you both on the top of Signal Hill, viewing
Fort Rodney, on Pigeon Island in St Lucia around the 24th of July.
I am back to work now and I couldn't resist reading about Sorrento's
adventures. Your website is fabulous.I'm restless again after
reading your descriptive stories.
You were planning on heading further south towards Trinidad and
Venezuela, when we last talked. I'll follow along to share your
trip on the web.
Cheers....and safe sailing, Judy

be in Oct/Nov/Dec? Once again this fall, we are HOPING my health
will allow us another scuba trip.

Did nearly the exact trip as you guys in our Downeast 38 back
in 1978 - 1981. We were only 30 yrs. old and pre-kids retired
for a few years. Interesting to see your pics of many of the same
places we visited 25 years ago. Must say they have changed a lot.
Brings back memories. Kids soon to be out of college and hope
to do another trip in next few years. Thanks for the memories.

GEN SET ETC. I'M A DIY GUY AND AM SURE I CAN REVIVE IT. I NEED
HELP, BIG TIME. PICS OF DECK LAYOUT-INTERIOR LAYOUTS PICS. PERFER

Dear friends
I just finished reading your post. How I envy you. I have recently
been to Honduras and the Bay Islands. I am in love. I have done
nothing but dream since the moment I left the Island. I have been
begging my wife to please consider packing up everything or just
leave everything for that matter and lets just move or sail or
something. But no dice. So I am with you on every trip and every
new adventure. Please tell me what made you just do it? Did you
have any idea of the impact it would have on your life. We are
only 28 and we own a business, but I dont need it. I dont want
it . I only want to walk on the beach and see the world.
You have done it and you are doing it. There is absolutly nothing
like fullfilling your dreams is there, What was you life worth
it you didn't fallow your heart. Nothing if you ask me, but someday
maybe I will be sailing to or living on the beach with no worries.
But for now, you must think of me when ever you Dock and do me
the honors of a toast to me and my dream once in awhile.
Good luck and happy sailing.

Beautiful web site and a beautiful boat!
I've found a 32' Harstad motorsailer (ketch) on Lake Erie for
sale, and I've fallen in love with the design. I haven't seen
it yet and it's not in the water, but I plan to make a trip up
there soon from Dayton, Ohio where I live. I've sailed the Lake
Erie island for many years with my family's Ericson 29, which
was sold about 10 years ago.
Now I'm anxious to start new adventures. Is the Harstad the
right boat? I'm looking for an older. less expensive boat that
needs some tender care, but has been substantially built for wear.
Very anxious to hear your comments. Any information is most
welcome.
Thank You!
Manfred Orlow

I had the great pleasure of meeting Fran recently in south Florida.
Her sparkling personality led me to feel like I had known her
all my life. As I discovered about her adventures with her Captain
and life partner Dave, I became very captivated with their story.
Having read their adventures makes me feel like we are an extended
family. I have travelled extensively in my life and realize that
there exists a sub-culture of adventurers. We feel like we all
share the same zeal for learning about other cultures and seeing
other places. We seem to know when we are passing by each other's
bow and all our flags are sailing...
This kinship knows no boundary's of ethnic or political origin,
just ordinary human beings daring to do extrodinary things and
live life to the fullest.
Long live ye..

I look forward to working more with you at Starbucks.----------GREGORY

Sounds as if you're still having fun, eh? I'm glad Laura and your
friends could spend some time there. Ann & Paul talking about
a trip down that way later in spring. Maybe they'll get near enough
to shout. We've recovered from the holidays and Clo is in LA right
now w/a great baby shower for Erin. She is due about 06 Mar. We
are well, despite some of the infirmaties of old age. They tend
to creep up on one. What if that steering chain broke while at
sea in a storm? Wow, would that be scary or what? Is the exposure
to sea water and such the reason it broke? Be careful, Vaya con
Dios.

We have enjoyed yours trips vicariously. We had one of our own
through the Southern US, Florida Key West and up the East Coast
to Nova Scotia, thence back to Washington to see Chris via PEI,
New Brunswick, Quebec Prov., Ontario and Northern US. Gas Prices
really ate us up! We had our travel trailer, so took it easy the
whole time, had a wonderful vacation, and ate tremendous quantities
of lobster. We did some genealogy on Geo. family in Nova Scotia
and Ontario; Geo's great-gf on both sides were Canadians. We logged
16,200 miles on the trip and very little mechanical problems,
and were gone almost five months. We left in mid-February. We
spent time w/Chris and then she came down for our annual family
campout in late July at Santa Cruz. We had about 28 there, I think.
Maybe you'll be nearer home next July and can join us at Ashland
OR for the Shakeksperian festival. Luv u guys, keep up the good
posts on this site. Clo & Geo

can't believe its almost Christmas already.
It's 2:30 a.m. I'm on line trying to find out what to do about
my frozen water pipes. Any suggestions?
The weatherman predicts it might get up to 16 degrees F
tomorrow afternoon. I bet your both green with envy. You too could
be worrying about frozen pipes if you were here. Miss you both.
As Ted says you're living all our dreams, I think your both so
courageous. Happy sailing, blue skys and smooth waters.

How's the sailing? If I was a little bit older I would want to
come with you. Don't forget to write and tell me about all of
the beautiful scenery. Miss you.

Wish we were there. Just saw Robert Earl Keen at the Nugget. What
a blast! Miss you and the good times we had together. See you
soon in the warm climes.
