This is the entrance to Fonseca Bay. The bay is shared by Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua. The two islands in the foreground are owned by El Salvador and the volcanic peak in the background is owned by Honduras. This bay is quite beautiful and would be a major tourist destination if it was located in a more accessable area.

We climbed to the top of El Tigre volcano an island in Honduran territory in the gulf of Fonseca. It was a moderate climb to the top and into the slight depression of the old crater where the C.I.A. maintained a base during the Contra wars in Nicaragua.

This is El Tigre Beach at high tide. A low tide is very muddy and not good for anything. Long walk from the dinghy.

A quaint street in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua. Note the basic board architecture. It is a very pleasant town, but the port captain is dishonest..(Click on the small figure on the right.)
