Friday morning-July 23-Corning Coffee party

The Yarmouth Historical Society Museum hosted a coffee party for the Corning family as well displayed many Corning memorabilia for us to view. We were treated to a talk by archivist Laura Bradley who spoke of what life was like when the first Cornings came to Yarmouth in the 1760s to settle.

 Studying the original land grant map which showed the parcels of land that the first Corning settlers -Ebenezer and Jonathan- obtained.
 

 A painting in the museum of the County of Yarmouth. This ship was the largest ever built in the Yarmouth area (2154 tons) and her first master was Capt. Theophilus C. Corning

 

 A portrait of Capt. Bowman Corning (1823-1894) which hangs in a prominent place in the Museum
 

 Enjoying the coffee and sweets are: Gwen (Corning) Nickerson, Holly (Firth) Cottreau, Heidie Firth and Tony Pettie.
